This tartan was created to celebrate Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns. The Auld Scotland name is taken from a line in the final verse of Burns’s address to a haggis. Auld Scotland is a generic tartan and therefore does not have a Clan Chief. Robert Burns wrote the poem Auld Lang Syne in 1788 and it has been set to a traditional folk song traditionally sung at New Year.
